Abstract :

This study critically examines the misinterpretation of Buddhist canonical terms such as Hīna, Asaddhamma and Vasala in the Myanmar Theravāda culture, which has contributed to the stigmatization of sexuality and the construction of Sex as intrinsic wicked, evil, or sinful.
