Abstract :

The modern short story in English is of recent origin and the Indian English short story is even less than a hundred year old. It is a different matter that Indian has a very old tradition of short story in the from of folk tales, fables & legend. Hence, the modern Indian practitioners of short in English have not failed to benefit from this rich heritage.
