such, political empowerment aims to achieve gender equality in political participation
of women at panchayat level. The 73rd Amendment to the Indian Constitution enabled
Indian women for participation in politics at the panchayat level. As such, the
Government of Karnataka also adopted the political participation of women and
provided reservation to women at panchayats. The present paper described the political
participation of women at national and Karnataka state and also examined the political
