FAREEDA IBAD

Published By : Laxmi Book Publication

Abstract :

Teams have become the foundation of progressive organizations, and information relating to the determinants that contribute to team accomplishment have extensive connotations for organizations aspiring to augment team effectiveness. The question of uncovering the characteristic features of communication and the role of communication among other factors as a determinant of team effectiveness is the central aim of this study. The research challenge central to this study is to find ways to achieve a desirable communication level that facilitates team performance. The empirical analysis involved collection of data through focus group interviews involving 5 participants in a prominent Pakistani bank using an interview guide featuring semistructured questions. The qualitative data analysis revealed that 'open' communication is a characteristic feature allowing a team to be effective. The barriers to team effectiveness were identified and recommendations for further research were also presented.
