the inequality of females' participation in higher education, the present study was made
in backward area of Hyderabad-Karnataka and developed area of Bangalore. The
authors collected primary data from both male and female students studying in Gulbarga
University, Gulbarga and Bangalore University, Bangalore. The study revealed that the
gender stratification in higher education is declining slowly. Still, many of the
conventional ideas and beliefs are leading in the society to curb the female higher
