Volume : II, Issue : IX, October - 2012 Manto's 'Evidence' To 'Bruised’ Women Sexuality During PartitionRaju Jayasing Patole Published By : Laxmi Book Publication Abstract : The second group of stories depicts women as victims of Partition violence,
sexual violation, abduction and their treatment 'enemy territory'. Stories like 'Anjam
Bekhair'('A Girl from Delhi'), 'Sharifan' ('Bitter Harvest'), 'Khol Do' ('The Return') and
'Khuda ki Kasam' ('The Dutiful Daughter') illustrate the point it is women at the
receiving end always during any kind of violence upheaval. It is they who lose much more
than the patriarchs of the society. 'Khol Do' and 'Khuda ki Kasam' are more powerful as
they depict the horror and psychological trauma experienced by women during
Partition. Women bore the pathos of communal strife in the wake of the Partition of the
country and became victims of gruesome communal incidents. The suffer doubly – first
they become the victims of rape, then they are done to death or abducted. Manto's
narration of this subject is unparalleled and regarded as masterpieces of their genre. Keywords : Article : Cite This Article : Raju Jayasing Patole, (2012).
