Abstract :

Eugene Gladstone O'Neill was born on 16th October, 1888 in a Broadway hotel room in New York. His father's name was James O' Neill. He was the famous actor of American theater. His mother's name was Ella Quinlan. She was very beautiful lady. Both of O' Neill's parents came from Irish Catholic families that had immigrated to America. O'Neill came to South America and worked as a draftsman at an Electric company. He worked at several places but could not settle there. So he returned to New York in 1911. He settled down among the sailors, truck drivers, prostitutes, printers ets. at the ugly three-storeyed building. According to O' Neill they were the best friends he ever had. He used that place as the setting for his some plays for example Anna Christie and The Iceman Cometh
