Abstract :

कृषि भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था की केन्द्र बिन्दु व भारतीय जीवन की धुरी है। आर्थिक जीवन का आधार, रोजगार का प्रमुख स्त्रोत तथा विदेशी मुद्रा अर्जन का माध्यम होने के कारण कृषि को देश की जीवन रेखा कहा जाता है। आज भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में उद्योगों व सेवा क्षेत्रों का सकल घरेलु उत्पाद में योगदान भले ही बढ़ रहा हो, किन्तु कृषि की हिस्सेदारी 18 प्रतिशत रह गई है। इस संकट में भी यह क्षेत्र 50 प्रतिशत लोगों को रोजगार उपलब्ध करा रहा है।1 यह कहा जाना अतिश्योक्ति नहीं होगा कि भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था की जीवन रेखा मानी जाने वाली कृषि आज स्वयं में ही जीवन तलाश रही है। कारण एवं स्थिति यह है कि भारत में 5.39 करोड़ परिवार मुख्य रूप से कृषि का कार्य करते है।2 जिनकी आजीविका कृषि पर ही आश्रित होती है।
