sustainable. Economic sustainability means that the transport system and supporting infrastructure
should be cost effective and should provide for efficient transport of people and goods/freight.
Environmental sustainability includes the dimension of pollution and efficient use of energy . Social
sustainability in an urban setting would mean that the transport system is equitably provided to all the
sections of the society and should also be safe, convenient and comfortable. Transportation related

Outdated T echnology , Traffic Congestion, Accidents, Air Quality and Health, Noise Pollution and
