INDIAN CONSTITUTION AND POLITICAL EMPOWERMENTOF WOMEN

Kashinath.M. Ashtgi , S.A. Palekar

By : Laxmi Book Publication

Abstract :

The Indian Constitution, envisages the ideal of creating a just and fair social older in the country . However, the constitutional ideals do not match with the social realities and half of the Indian population. A glaring example of this is that women have remained oppressed for ages. The Indian women, at times immortalised as goddess, never found their rightful place in society or even in family . They are treated as mere tools to bear the burdens of the family restricted to the role of bearing children and fulfilling duties of a wife or a mother only . Division of labour is not in their favour . As a result, Indian women have lost their identity .
