Abstract :

Long before the rise of Oxford, Bologna, or Cambridge, the Indian subcontinent was home to two of the world’s earliest and most influential centers of higher learning — Takshashila (modern Taxila, Pakistan) and Nalanda (in present-day Bihar, India).
