By : Laxmi Book Publication

Abstract :

This essay examines the function of the Middle English "derate" poem, a genre distinguished by formal arguments or verbal contests, in scholarly, popular, and cultural contexts. The study explores how these poems operated as moral and intellectual debates in their medieval setting and how their meanings have changed over time by examining the poems' themes, structure, and rhetorical devices.
