Abstract :

This study investigates how caste identities and social recognition in Southern Karnataka are shaped by family deities. The worship of family deities (kuladevatas), which act as hubs for devotional rituals and social cohesiveness within caste communities, is intricately woven into the region's religious and cultural fabric.
