Abstract :

The financial autonomy of Gram Panchayats is vital for effective local governance and sustainable development. Despite the constitutional provisions under Articles 243G, 243H, and 243I, which empower Panchayats to generate Own Source Revenue through taxes, fees, and user charges, their financial independence remains limited.
