Abstract :

The causes of primary school children dropouts play a very critical role in the current Indian Educational Scenario. School Dropout not only affects the children's future but also directly affects the families. The aim of the study is to investigate the causes of primary school children dropout in the selected districts of Tamilnadu. The standardized tool Problem Associated with Dropouts in Primary School of D.B.Rao (2004) was reconstructed according to the locality for the assessment. The normative survey method was adopted. The primary schools and respondents were randomly selected. The collected data was subjected to descriptive and differential analysis using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software and percentage analysis. The present study portrayed the major causes like Parent's illiteracy, Socially and economically Backward atmosphere, Students have to bear burden of the family, Location of school is a distant place from the house, Work at house etc. associated with primary school children dropout.
