Higher education department makes online letters mandatory

BHUBANESWAR: The department of higher education has decided to make online communication of official letters mandatory for the state universities, Council of Higher Secondary Education and all offices under its administrative control, from January 1. The department will stop accepting manual receipt of letters (hard copies) from the New Year. Hard copies of service books will only be entertained, while all other official mode of communication will strictly be online, a senior government officer said. The institutions have to use the government's e-despatch system for the purpose. Additional secretary Durga Prasad Dash has written a letter in this regard to the seven state-funded varsities, director of higher education, regional directors of education, chairman of CHSE and principals of 30 nodal colleges, sources said. The government officer said the move will ensure transparency, avoid misplacement of letters and make the delivery of communication faster.
