Odisha govt's nod for MBA, PhD at Xavier University

BHUBANESWAR: The state government has given permission to newly set-up Xavier University to start various courses on MBA (general and specialized), PhD programme and MBA (global) from the next academic session. Sources said, the Xavier University will offer various courses like rural management, human resource management, five-year integrated commerce and PhD programmes. "The new courses will begin from the new academic session beginning June 2014. Management courses like rural management and human resource management will have 120 seats each, while the integrated commerce course will have 240 seats and there will be 60 seats for the PhD programmes," said a senior officer of the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). The university will be able to accommodate 5,000 students and more than 400 faculty members. The new campus of the proposed university, spread over 35 acres, is located at Kurki, 12 km from the Bhubaneswar airport. "The campus is being developed since last year, and is expected to be ready by the next academic session. The academic block and a hostel with capacity of 400 students are ready," he said.
