The committee constituted to formulate the National Education Policy, headed by T S R Subramanian has submitted its report to the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry recently. The report, consisting recommendations for the evolution of education policy was drafted by the committee after examining 29,000 online suggestions, recommendations and suggestions received. The committee had also held deliberations with various stakeholders and undertook field visits to educational institutions. New Education Policy: Reinstate detention of students after class V Education Policy Formulation Process To frame a New Education Policy (NEP), HRD ministry had initiated a consultation process, which was undertake at online, grassroots and national-level thematic deliberations on 33 themes. The ministry also held six zonal meetings in Eastern, Central, North-Eastern, Western, Southern and Northern Zones covering all states and union territories in September-October 2015. Thematic consultations were also conducted both by the ministry and other institutions like UGC, AICTE, NCTE, NCERT. Several universities and autonomous bodies were also participated in thematic consultations. Academics, experts, representatives of industry and public were also consulted to come out with individual themes. The panel included other members, namely former Chief Secretary NCT of Delhi Shailaja Chandra, former Home Secretary, NCT of Delhi Sevaram Sharma, former Chief Secretary Gujarat Sudhir Mankad and former Director of NCERT JS Rajput.
