ACTING Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) Dr. Vincent Onome Akpotaire has commended the former General Counsel (GC) of the Bureau, Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ujomu for his immense contributions, humility and integrity in the service of the nation through the Bureau. Speaking in Abuja at a valedictory session in honour of the former GC who formally retired from service after the attainment of 60 years of age, the acting Director General said that the retiring GC was an embodiment of humility, hard work and God-fearing. He wished Ujomu success in his future endeavours and prayed God to grant him good health and protection. The ex-GC’s colleagues, who spoke at the event, which coincided with his 60th birthday, extolled his qualities and leadership virtues and wished him well in his future endeavours. In his response, the former GC appealed to the management and staff of the Bureau to continue to build on the successes so far achieved; and urged them to continue to maintain the integrity and corporate image of the Bureau. While appealing to all staff to co-operate with the acting DG to succeed in the reforms and privatisation programme of the Federal government, the former GC said he would greatly miss the conviviality at the Bureau. He promised to be a good ambassador of BPE and pleaded with those he may have offended during his stewardship at the Bureau to forgive him.
