| Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 August 2014 cleared the name of senior IPS officer Ramesh Chand Tayal for being appointed as Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Special Director-General (DG).
Ramesh Chand Tayal is a 1980-batch IPS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre. At the time, when the proposal of his name was given the consent, Tayal was posted as Additional Director-General of the Sashatra Seema Bal.
