BANGALORE: The admission window for engineering aspirants in the state will remain open for a while longer. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) on Monday said the second round of online counselling for 8,776 unfilled seats in colleges across the state under the Common Entrance Test will begin at 10am on Tuesday and go on for 12 hours. Besides the engineering seats, 80 architecture seats - Mangalore's Srinivasaiah Institute of Architecture, and Bangalore's Aakar Academy of Architecture have increased their intake by 40 each - are also on offer. "To fill these seats, we are extending the second round of counselling by 12 hours," higher education minister R V Deshpande told reporters at the KEA cell here. The counselling results will be uploaded on the KEA website by 5pm, Wednesday. The Supreme Court, in its judgment, had said the seat-allotment process should be completed by July 31. "To make it easier for students and parents in the last-hour admission process, we have deployed 10 more officials to oversee the process. The offices of the KEA will function till the midnight of August 1," the minister said. Candidates attending the extended second-round counselling must pay fee at Indian Bank branches in person or can pay online till August 4. "VTU guidelines permit students to reach colleges till August 5 for admissions. It's advisable to appear at your respective colleges as early as possible," Deshpande said, in reply to a question.
