The city engineering students and the colleges are happy with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) decision to start an exclusive job portal linking students and companies where they can upload their resumes and search for the companies. In a bid to ensure that the students are not left out to good jobs, the AICTE has launched a job portal where students and companies can upload profile and resume respectively. Depending on the vacancy and suitability of the candidates, the companies would invite them to online tests followed by personal interview and it will cover seven million candidates across the country. While talking to dna, one of the final year student of Mechanical engineering from a city based college, Akshay Raut said that the job portal will have an additional help for the students as the jobs which will be displayed on the official portal of the AICTE will have job opportunities other than the campus recruitments. He added that those students who can not get selected at the campus recruitment will have another medium to find for suitable job."Since students are supposed to upload the resumes and research papers on the newly designed portal, the employers can access the information and they can call the candidates," he said. The job portal will be a boon to students in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, where recruiters hardly visit, said another student, Kalyani Joshi.
