Abstract :

Today women entrepreneurship is seen as effective strategy to alleviate rural and urban poverty. This research work aims at evaluating the efforts of government to alleviate urban poverty through women entrepreneurship. The study was conducted on women self help groups from Thane district that are financially assisted by the state government under the scheme of Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY).
