आधुनिक भौगोलिक चिंतन के संस्थापन में अलैग्जेंडर वाँन हम्बोल्ट का योगदान

Abstract :

आधुनिक भूगोल के संस्थापक अलैग्जेडंर वान हम्बोल्ट का जन्म सन् 1769 ई. में बर्लिन में हुआ था। जब वह 10 वर्ष का था तो उसके पिता का देहान्त हो गया। उसकी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा माता की देख-रेख में ही हुई। उसने फ्रेंकफर्ट तथा गोटिंजन विश्वविद्याल में भूगर्भ-शास्त्र, वनस्पति षास्त्र, खनिज शास्त्र, पृथ्वी का चुम्बकीय अध्ययन तथा मौसम विज्ञान आदि का ज्ञान प्राप्त किया। उन्होंने प्रसिद्ध भूगोलवेता अल्फ्रेड वेगनर के साथ काम किया सन् 1792 मंे वह प्रशिया खनन भू-वैज्ञानिक बन गया। भू-गर्भ विज्ञान में अधिक रूचि होने के कारण उसने आल्पस पर्वतों पर बवेरिया, इटली, आस्ट्रिया व स्वीटजरलैंड देशों की यात्रा की।
