COMPARISON BETWEEN UPANISHADIC EDUCATION AND BUDDHIST EDUCATION: A REVIEW

Abstract :

The ultimate aim of education in ancient Indian was not knowledge as preparation for life in this world or for life beyond, but for complete realization of self for liberation of the soul from the chains of life both present and future. The chief aim of Buddhist education was all round development of child’s personality. This included his physical, mental, moral and intellectual development, Formation of character, Religious education and Preparation for life. This paper mainly highlights the comparison between Upanishadic education and Buddhist Education.
