WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: POLICY AND LEGAL FRAMEWORK

Abstract :

Women empowerment is a complex process. It is also the relative concept. This process differs in various contexts. In Indian society though the women's status is considered as the secondary status, this process has the context of culture religion and the position of women in the family and in society. The literacy level is low, employment level is also low but their contribution in economy is substantial. Gender discrimination is the universal phenomena but it is predominant in Indian Society. Government is trying to empower women so that they can make more significant contribution in various walks of life.
