Abstract :

In the changing world, more and more women are coming out of their houses to work. In Indian society, traditionally a woman's sphere of activities has been her home. But the present economic strain has compelled many women to work outside the home as in the present-day urban India, a single income is no longer sufficient to run the family. Working women's wages have become essential. In this newly acquired role, the working women face challenges differing from those of housewives, because in most cases the working women's multiple role involvement disturbs other people's expectations and their great range of demands. The present paper seeks to find out about occupational stress among teachers of Jammu district in Jammu and Kashmir. The study would try to find out reasons behind confining this study to the women teachers of Jammu is to know the causes and explore the remedies for eliminating and reducing the stress of teachers besides finding out the impact of occupational stress on women teachers in relations to different levels of income, experience, qualification and age.
