Abstract :

The term antioxidants originally was used to refer specifically to a chemically that prevented the consumption of oxygen In the late 19th and early 20th century, extensive study was devoted to the uses of antioxidants in important industrial process such as prevention of metal corrosion. Antioxidants are biologically active substance that acts to counter the harmful effects of free radical. They include certain vitamins (Vti. C,E), mineral(Selenium) and other groups such as carotenoids and bioflavoinds. In the last years increasing evidence have indicated that dietary intakes of antioxidants may play a key role in reducing the risk of developing of some degenerative disease in human beings. Many fruit, leafy vagatables and seeds contain antioxidants like ascorbic acid, vitamin and phenolic compounds. Oxalis corniculata , Tridax procumbens, Hyptis suaveolens are the native species of Vidarbha and tremendous medicinal values. This research exercise is an attempt to analyse antioxidants quantitatively from various parts of these plants.
